The terms, plainly stated.

A small set of mutual understandings between this site and the person reading it.

What this is

Aubade is a frontend-only demonstration of a digital school & learning portal. It was built to showcase interface design and engineering craft. It is not a school. It is not affiliated with any institution. The lessons, instructors, and student data inside the application are illustrative fiction — written carefully, but written nonetheless.

No service contract

By browsing the site, you do not enter into any service agreement. There is nothing to log into. There is nothing to pay for. There is nothing to subscribe to. The “Continue reading” buttons do not actually enroll you in anything, and the “Submit” buttons do not transmit your work to any party.

Intellectual property

The design, code, and editorial copy of this site are the author’s. The illustrations, where present, are hand-composed in SVG. The typefaces — Fraunces and Geist — are licensed under the SIL Open Font License and used with gratitude.

You are welcome to view the source, learn from it, and borrow ideas. If you would like to reuse a substantial portion of the code or design, ask the developer first — the answer is usually a friendly yes.

No warranty, no liability

The site is offered “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The developer is not liable for any decisions you make as a result of reading the demo content (e.g. taking up linear algebra under the assumption that bases really are a moral choice). That is between you and the universe.

Changes

These terms may change as the demo evolves. The last updated stamp at the top of this page is the canonical record. Continued use of the site after a change implies acceptance of the new terms.
